About Marketing Results
During the past ten years Marketing Results created an incredible array of marketing programs for products and services—ranging from classical music and feminine care products to adhesives, pharmaceuticals, political candidates and collectible toy models. So why would they specialize in wealth management practices and non-profit organizations?
“Specialization is crucial to any business’ marketing growth,” notes company founder Jim Shulman. “When I began Marketing Results in 1997, I cast a very broad net, offering to market a wide array of items and services. Then I took the advice I give to many of my clients: find a niche that is profitable, enjoyable, and gives you the opportunity to demonstrate leadership. Today I’m focusing my efforts in two areas—Wealth Management Professionals and Non-Profit Organizations.”
Why these two areas? According to Shulman, there are more similarities than differences. “Most Wealth Management professionals I’ve met are altruists; they are involved in their communities, in their churches and synagogues, and in other important civic work. Their work is a reflection of their personalities, so we help them create a stronger focus for their practices. With a stronger focus and a sensible practice management program they can achieve more for their clients and their philanthropic activities.”
Shulman also notes, “Wealth Management professionals are usually individualists who want to create their own unique solutions for clients. Yet marketing programs for Wealth Management professionals are too often generic, intended to be used identically by thousands of people. We find that someone who offers customized service responds best to a customized marketing program, based on overall practice improvement.”
As for philanthropies, “They’re usually looking for wealth! Today, there are more than one million registered 501 (c) (3) organizations. While there are many groups with significant resources, most have very limited means. We work with non-profit groups that need the services of a marketing director, but probably can’t afford an experienced full-time pro. In a sense, this is ‘marketing triage’—determining which few programs will deliver the greatest impact for the group.” Recent Marketing Results non-profit clients have included school districts, theater companies, and symphony orchestras.
